The Year of Living Danishly

Overall Book Count: 3/80

Prompt: A book set in Scandinavia

I’m beginning to think of Denmark as home.

Hygge. It is a simple word. Yet to the Danes, it is the essence of their life and culture.

Not only has it been used in recent advertisements to sell home security products, but it is a buzz-worthy word dominating blogs, simple living, and google search results everywhere. It is the Danish word for comfort, but it is so much more.

This book does not focus on hygge exclusively, but rather on the culture of Denmark and why it has been billed as the “happiest country in the world.” A lot of it has to do with their embrace of hygge.

If you are a fan of travel memoirs, Denmark, or the fascination of simple hygge, do like the Danes and light some candles, throw on a pair of comfy socks, and open up this book.
